Next week topics, and get featured in the Buckellcast
March 2nd 2007 at 4:59 pm
1) Hit me up with some topics you’d like me to talk about, either here in the blog or in the Buckellcast, which should go out earlier next week than later.
2) If you’d like to be on the Buckellcast, video yourself giving me one sentence saying who you are and what your favorite book is […]
Boskone summary
February 19th 2007 at 6:11 pm
My main memory from this weekend’s con was the gift of a series of gastro-intestinal distress due to some bug I caught that at several points forced me to retire to my hotel room to dose up on drugs and curl up on my bed and whimper due to stomach cramps (all the more ironic […]
Novel progress and charity update
January 12th 2007 at 1:15 pm
So every Friday morning I’ll be reporting how much of the 6,000 words that week I got written, and I’ll be paying 5 cents a word to a charity for every word I’m under the goal limit to spur myself onto productivity.
I wrote 3,020 words this week, slightly hampered by a laptop with RAM problems […]
Sly Mongoose
April 20th 2006 at 1:46 pm
I started work on the next novel, tentatively entitled ‘Sly Mongoose.’ Still have a lot of outlining and thinking to do, but the first chapter is straight forward enough, so I thought I’d work on it.
This deep in the acidic cumulus clouds of a gathering storm, the sun’s distant white light scattered into a fine […]

After flaming out of the up at 5:30/workout start of the day thing in mid September, Emily and I trying it again. She was the one up and getting me up this morning, and we got there and ran for 20 minutes, stretched, went home. I ate, wrote some, then watched a little bit of […]
A brief note to self
December 2nd 2005 at 4:25 pm
I found this scribbled down near my bed this morning:
don’t forget bhavabhdi are really immature satraps without their mind controlled entourage, reveal earlier

I love writing SF.

Ahhh. Success. I finished the rewrite of Kalikuata, and got the alternate ending. I’m much more satisfied emotionally with the new ending. I mailed it out. Now we’ll see whether the editor thinks it is what they need in that particular instance.So. That project is out of the way. Have to look and see what’s […]

Today brings a very quick and cordial rejection from Sci-Fi.com. Ellen Datlow said it wasn’t at all bad, but she didn’t like it enough to buy it for the site. Also found out that two of my Clarion class-mates sold to Realms of Fantasy, Hilary and Tom. Far out guys :-)Kalikuata just about threw me a […]
Added 410 words to push
October 29th 2001 at 6:01 am
Added 410 words to push the night’s total up to a nice even 1K. My fave. I’m getting to the ’showdown’ section of the piece. I have about 600 words left. I think I may need an epilogue, but I’m not sure. I have the end thought out a bit, but I’m seriously considering how […]
Rejection from Asimov’s today. Gardner
October 24th 2001 at 8:51 pm
Rejection from Asimov’s today. Gardner sent a form, but wrote on the bottom ’sorry for the form, we’re swamped.’ Cool. Also got another request from an editor for a story, making that 4 requests of some sort I’m juggling right now. This sort of demand makes me a very happy writer.
I’ll tell you what else […]
