A couple of years ago I linked to a blog post that talked about how disabled people in the US had to protest in order to gain rights for themselves, and highlighted this quote:
I think about the protests in the ’80s. People blocking the road: Glorious, bold, furious people with palsy, paralysis, atrophied muscles, missing limbs. I think about them throwing themselves out of their wheelchairs onto hard, filthy city streets to block traffic.
It’s important to read that, and then look at this, happening right now in Bolivia as disabled people marching to protest in Bolivia end up in a violent exchange with riot police.
