Books to watch out for

There are two books in my to be read pile that I’ve been really looking forward to reading but haven’t yet due to the insane work schedule I set myself recently. But you should check them out, as they’re in my TBR pile for good reasons.

The first is Saladin Ahmed’s Throne of the Crescent Moon, which has been getting lots of great buzz among fellow writers and review outlets.

Pulp Arabian Nights? Epic Fantasy Arabian Nights? I’m looking forward to reading Saladin’s book on the plane ride out to New York next week on my way to Tools of Change.

The other book I have in the queue is Myke Cole’s Control Point:

Myke and I share an agent, and started out in the same online web ring back in the day (web rings, remember those?) of starting authors, so it’s cool to see his book coming out.

But beyond personal investment, Control Point is described by Peter V. Brett as “Black Hawk Down meets the X-Men.”

Both look like pretty awesome debut books I’m going to be doing my best to read soon.
