How did I miss that the new Tesla S is for sale?
Hey, the Tesla S is orderable:

The $49,900 base model has 160 miles of range and is a four door sedan. A very nice looking vehicle.
I’ll be curious to see how many of these move.
To be honest, I still find the Chevy Volt a more appealing vehicle due to the range extender, but the
Look, efficiency is great, but Americans love their sports cars. Demonstrate that electric gives you 100% of your available torque right away, and you’re going to gain fans. Most electric folks, the ‘annoying’ green types, create cars that take a year to get up to highway speeds because it saves power.
That’s not going to sell electric to your average person who wants to know that they can hammer the pedal and get going like a bat out of hell.
And 4.4 seconds to get up there.
Bat. Out. Of. Hell.
Good job Tesla. Electric doesn’t have to smell of mothballs and slow moving boredom.
