Econ blogs

Over at Modeled Behavior, Karl Smith takes a look at the fundamentals of the economy for the US starting this year.

I read Krugman for one slice and approach, and Karl for another (I’m happy to read opposing debate). Both allow me to calibrate, and have taught me a lot. Certainly I’ve stopped reading all the places I was taught were the prime economics minds back when I was covering finance.

If you’d read WaPo or Financial Times from 2006 to now, you’d be very confused. The same people who said the housing boom would never stop now tell us to worry about deficits and engage in austerity, and that nothing but hard times are ahead.
