Home again
After eight hours of lying totally still in a hospital bed from 4pm on yesterday after the cath to midnight, I was allowed to move my legs. Talk about needing self control. Couldn’t move neck up, or move anything but my arms. Half an hour after midnight the nurse took me on a walk around, then gave me a sedative and I watched Superman 1 ((I didn’t want watch anything funny because I had to hold the pressure bandage down tight if sneezing, coughing, of laughing) and fell asleep again.
I was pretty out of it right after the cath, my stepdad had gone out for some Applebees sliders for me which Em helped me eat. Ambrosia! Then I remember waking up at 10 to talk to Emily briefly.
After a night of fitful sleep and bad late night TV I got up when Emily came back. Had breakfast and then all my IV ports were removed. Got dressed in pajamas and a leather jacket and wheeled out to the car and now I am home on my couch, limping around as needed, but mainly resting and watching tv. I may get the xbox going later this afternoon/early evening in between naps. I had a sedative right before leaving, it’s lurking around back here somewhere.

Better to be home and bored off your rocker than in the hospital bored off your rocker. And you better hold that bandage down, don’t want you to blow a gasket.

Wow. Just read about your last four days! What trauma. I hope normal is just around the corner. However, rest assured that you are in better shape than my nanowrimo protag’s best friend who is currently comatose after the alien symbiote implanted in his abdomen died and necrosed. Blech. Terrible timing as the aliens have just arrived in orbit. Are you allowed to laugh yet? All the best, -e

Hi Toby — Just came to your blog for another post and saw what’s been going on. All my sympathy. I’m 30 and in treatment for lymphoma, and it’s always odd being a young ‘un in a world of senior health care. Hope things straighten soon for you.
