Journal Entry
Friday update
This is Emily- posting for Toby via iPhone. Toby went in for the heart cath around four and was out by five. They found slight thickening of the tip of the heart, but nothing severe. It could still be pericarditis but both things are very treatable toby will be on some medicine that would help either condition. He enjoyed some mini burgers courtesy of his family after waking up. He’s mostly been dozing in and out this afternoon. From the change in his breathing, I’d say he’s out again. The doctor is letting him go home tomorrow.

Hmm.
I hope that they find out EXACTLY what it is and prevent it from ever occurring again.
But even if they don’t, I hope that Mr. Buckell will not live in fear of the potential for a repeat event. Here’s hoping he gets all the info he needs to help him adjust his lifestyle accordingly to help prevent possible problems later in life.
My very best to you,
~Angel

Good to hear. I had a similar incident seven years ago, which led to them discovering my aortic aneurysm; in hindsight, what seemed like a terrible episode turned out to have saved my life, because without that discovery the aneurysm wouldn’t have been monitored and I would have almost certainly just keeled over one day.
So such terrible moments can be blessings in disguise; and if nothing else, they provide a stark lesson in perspective, about what’s really important in your life. All best wishes from myself and Janice to you guys, and I hope the ultimate outcome is good.

Hrmmm…I am thinking hypertrophic cardiomyopathy PLUS pericarditis secondary to the illness Toby had a couple weeks ago, since the cardiomyopathy alone seems much too mild to have caused all those symptoms all by itself.
Whatever the diagnosis, I’m glad to hear you’re going home, Toby, and wish you a peaceful recovery.
