John Scalzi says smart things about why you need an agent who’s good with foreign sales.
Foreign sales money is good. My own agent almost doubled the money I made from my first novel via foreign rights sales.
Furthermore, it’s always surprise money that you weren’t counting on or expecting, in a large lump.
