Here in Lexington
August 29th 2008 at 3:57 pm
John Scalzi and I are sitting in a coffee shop with our laptops, typing away. No one’s fooled. Paul Melko just arrived.
In the meantime, here is the Russian version of Crystal Rain, due out (or maybe already coming out, I can’t read Russian) from AST:
Ego alert: various reviews and interviews
August 28th 2008 at 9:12 am
A link dump of things:
Suvudu has a video interview of me and Todd Lockwood chatting about writing and cover art for books (Todd has done all my covers so far).
At Tor Podcasts I’m interviewed by my editor Paul Stevens about the idea behind Sly Mongoose. It was taken during the Nebulas, when I was horribly, […]
[iPhone shots] wind turbines in farmland
August 28th 2008 at 8:17 am
Emily has wanted to show these giant wind turbines to me for a while. They’re out in the middle of North-Western Ohio farmland, not too far from Bowling Green.
Snapped the picture from the car last weekend.
I love wind turbines, I just find them beautiful.
Sly Mongoose comes out swinging

My agent yesterday emailed halfway through the day to congratulate me on the best opening week sales of any of my hardcovers yet. Almost double the first week sales of Ragamuffin and a 12% edge over Crystal Rain’s first week numbers.
This has me thrilled.
Over the counter retail stores (many independent stores don’t report to bookscan) […]
Hello from your factory line assembler?
August 27th 2008 at 9:54 am
At a MacRumors forum someone booted up an iPhone and found photos already in their brand new, packaged iPhone… of the person who on the assembly line who packaged the phone.
There is so much to sit and unpack about this idea (factory workers, a device crossing the world, the world being flat, a sort of […]
Dayton fun
August 26th 2008 at 11:16 pm
John Scalzi and I had a lot of fun at the Dayton Books & Co reading and signing. I read Sly Mongoose’s first chapter, and John a segment from Zoe’s Tale, and we did a little Q&A session as well.
I was lucky to get there bang right on time, as a trailer accident in Lima […]
Still alive, in fact, you can see me in Dayton tonight
August 26th 2008 at 10:53 am
Sunday I visited Ann Arbor to do a panel with John Scalzi and Paul Melko at the Ann Arbor downtown library, which was really nifty and had a good turnout, including my best friend from college who I haven’t seen in a loooong time. Some 60 people turned out, so it was a jumping affair.
Netmouse […]

Today Sly Mongoose officially launches. It will be on bookstore shelves and it will be on doorsteps if you pre-ordered it. I’m really excited about this one, as the early buzz has been off the chain and I can’t wait to see what readers think.
The book is available from all the usual sources:

How your environment affects you
August 17th 2008 at 11:28 pm
Emily and I are in the process of moving into the other bedroom in our house. While I love our house, particularly during winter, but even in summer, I’ve constantly felt tired and ‘draggy,’ or like there’s a huge weight on my shoulders. Part of this is because Ohio isn’t the Caribbean. The lack of […]
Did John McCain really say…
August 14th 2008 at 1:42 pm
…””in the 21st century nations don’t invade other nations.”
Really? With, like, no sense of irony at all?
