Journal Entry

Twam!

So I’ve been on Twitter for a while, and I was telling a friend lately that there’s always this exciting grace period with a new communications service where no one has yet figured out how to spam it.

Now I’m spotting Twitter spam, where someone signs up to follow you on your twitter feed. Being a curious type, you click on the email to see who just added you, and you get a profile with no tweets and a link in the person’s profile to the service they’re selling.

I’ve thought about this for a while, and I’ve decided to call this Twamming. Or Twam.

Twitter spam.

When you are at their profile, remember to click to block them.

Allegedly, Twitter follows the number of blocks to determine who is a spammer and shut them down.

I’m amazed at the number of people who let just anyone follow them! I was just twammed (I love it! The word, that is…) a couple of weeks ago by some MLM jackass espousing the virtues of, of all things, the mangosteen. On their Twitter profile, they had something like 1500 people who they were ‘following’ – and some 150 people who had decided to follow the twammer! WTF, people?

Also complicating that is fact that Thalia needs to be home tommorow since she has a cold: cough, runny nose, mild fever. 8 hrs ago

I fell asleep at 7:30pm and woke up at 12:30 due to coughing kid. Awake now. Will be interesting to see when I get tired. 8 hrs ago

Of course, I'm risking cliche. But these are the travails of being an entertainer: in realism vs keep story moving, moving wins 8 hrs ago

Mmm. The extended rise to leader of army plot sequence in this novella will be cut in favor of Duel To Death! Other way is long/boring. :) 8 hrs ago

Thalia's home today sick. Poor kid. Poor Toby's deadline LOL. 19 hrs ago
