Ragamuffin a Nebula Finalist! Woot!
Last night I passed out sick, I woke up very late to a spate of messages pointing out that Ragamuffin had made the final Nebula ballot.
Holy freaking cow! How cool is that?
I’ll tell you how cool: ginormously freaking adrenalizingly cool!
I’ve been replying to emails via my iPhone, as I had to wake up, shower, and eat lunch with someone I’d promised I’d eat lunch with, but now I’m back and replying to all my emails and posting this up.
I’m very psyched!
Thank you to everyone who voted, this is quite an honor.
John Scalzi has the ballot here.
My category, the novels one:
Odyssey – McDevitt, Jack (Ace, Nov06)
The Accidental Time Machine – Haldeman, Joe (Ace, Aug07)
The Yiddish Policemen’s Union – Chabon, Michael (HarperCollins, May07)
The New Moon’s Arms – Hopkinson, Nalo (Warner Books, Feb07)
Ragamuffin – Buckell, Tobias (Tor, Jun07)
This is not only cool because I’m on there, but because we have two Caribbean genre novels up there, mine and Nalo’s!
What an awesome day!

Also complicating that is fact that Thalia needs to be home tommorow since she has a cold: cough, runny nose, mild fever. 5 hrs ago
I fell asleep at 7:30pm and woke up at 12:30 due to coughing kid. Awake now. Will be interesting to see when I get tired. 5 hrs ago
Of course, I'm risking cliche. But these are the travails of being an entertainer: in realism vs keep story moving, moving wins 5 hrs ago
Mmm. The extended rise to leader of army plot sequence in this novella will be cut in favor of Duel To Death! Other way is long/boring. :) 5 hrs ago
Thalia's home today sick. Poor kid. Poor Toby's deadline LOL. 17 hrs ago

Congratulations. I’ve read The Accidental Time Machine–it’s good, but Ragamuffin’s better. Watch out for Chabon, though. Or is it possible voters will think he thinks he’s “slumming.”? Hmmm.

Is it too late to add a “Woohoo!” here? Of the three in the list that I’ve read, I gotta say yours is my fave. (Of course I gotta, why else would I bother to post here!).
I’ve never rooted for a book to win an award before, but I’m pulling for you here. (Have you sobered yet?)
