John Joseph Adams has the cover and cover copy and table of contents of the anthology Seeds of Change that will be out this summer, it includes my story Resistance.
Also up is an interview/essay I did for Angry Black Woman’s website about how my past impacts my writing. If you scroll around you can see […]

Sly Mongoose Chapter One

February 28th 2008 at 5:15 pm

So I said that when the video trailer for Sly Mongoose hit 1,000 views I’d post the first chapter for Sly Mongoose for everyone to read.
We’re still 5 months away from seeing Sly Mongoose on shelves, but I’m happy to report the video trailer got 1,000 views, and true to my word, here is the […]

Sick

February 27th 2008 at 12:21 pm

Ugh, I don’t need this (blogged from *underneath a blanket* where it’s warm).
I was feeling a bit low yesterday, so spent the day taking it very easy, hoping to head off this minor flu at the pass. But I did have to go outside and shovel some snow.
That pretty much shoved me over the edge.
Bleah.

Weariness is…

…discovering you spelled a ship name wrong in your manuscript and will have to hunt down each instance and correct it (Sheikh and Shiekh, my eyes struggle to see the difference).
I’m going through the proofs of Sly Mongoose, pretty much the last line of defense, and the last time I’ll see the book, before print.

Strange Horizons review

February 23rd 2008 at 8:58 am

Of related interest is this review of Ragamuffin by Paul Kincaid:
If you wouldn’t choose to recommend this book as a representative of the intellectual or literary heights that science fiction might achieve, it is at least a damned good example of something at the very core of the genre. This is where we grew up […]

Ragamuffin a Nebula Finalist! Woot!

February 22nd 2008 at 1:54 pm

Last night I passed out sick, I woke up very late to a spate of messages pointing out that Ragamuffin had made the final Nebula ballot.
Holy freaking cow! How cool is that?
I’ll tell you how cool: ginormously freaking adrenalizingly cool!
I’ve been replying to emails via my iPhone, as I had to wake up, shower, and […]

iPhone as eBook reader

February 21st 2008 at 11:55 pm

Charles Stross and I swapped copies of our upcoming novels back and forth via email this morning. I’ve been feeling like complete shit all day, and have been just taking care of emails instead of getting anything really that needs mental horsepower, so I opened the novel up, figuring it was time to give up […]

Shaun Tan’s The Arrival

February 21st 2008 at 2:37 pm

At Kate Nepveu’s suggestion, I ordered The Arrival, a graphic novel by Shaun Tan. Kate has the best review here on her blog. It’s an amazing piece of work that I felt guilty only paying $13 for when I ordered.
Shaun Tan’s The Arrival is a wordless graphic novel about immigration. It’s surreal, beautiful, heartwarming, and […]
