Journal Entry
It’s the small things
April 28th 2007 at 1:31 am
So I worked my ass off all afternoon Friday on a little project and after I turned it in several people above me in the food chain of this project emailed me to say how cool and awesome it was.
My one year freelance-versary is coming up, but seeing those emails gave me a bit of a catch in the back of my throat because that just makes it so worth it. I spent a long time in the desert without that kind of water before the great big jump.

Congrats, and well deserved. The small thing is pretty big, imho. And groundbreaking.

Way to go! I got a similar email earlier this week from a professor I helped out. The small things really do mean a great deal.

Good job, Tobias. Yeah, it’s always good to get that feedback (which, IMHO, is too often ignored or not done).
My Friday saw my weekend delayed because we absolutely, positively, must, had to, and on penalty of death get a final last minute super hot rush job completed for a client. A client I’m not particularly wild about. A client that pushes the rush button way too often.
My comment was, well if they don’t get the business cards to (big western city) on time (which might mean buying them airplane seats) I’ll look forward to seeing the chasm to hell open up on the outskirts of (said city), because I think that would be fun.
Business cards. Really. It’s not like we’re shipping transplant organs or something like that.
