Cool NASA return-to-moon trailer
April 25th 2007 at 12:51 pm
I like the idea of NASA-released cool trailers like this.
What would be even slicker is if they snagged some of their budget and aired this stuff on prime time. I imagine there are laws, but if politicians can figure out how to clutter my viewing time I don’t see why NASA shouldn’t.
Nonetheless, cool video. Check it:
As much as I prefer laying bets on private space initiatives, this is pretty nifty.

I hope they didn’t blow the whole budget on the nifty type effects.

I’ll admit it, I got chills. Anyone else get a hint of whatever production company does SFX for Firefly/Battlestar? Just the one bit where the craft goes out of focus for a second, like the camera couldn’t track it fast enough.
I hope we’ll see another moon landing. Does anyone know how/why NASA is still building the Ares rocket if it is in direct competition to their COTS program? Or am I, as casual observer, missing something.

I’m not sure if they’re still doing Ares, I haven’t been following that closely. COTS is an outside bid project, isn’t it? And is COTS including the launch rocket or is Ares that foundation. I forget now.

I think Ares is the foundation. At least I believe they kept the name for the rockets. Whether they’re the same, I don’t know. I seem to recall that the names are the Ares I and the Ares V.

One last comment about this; I want to see it on the big screen….
