Tobias Buckell videocast, ep 0
This was my first attempt to take video off my camera that I took in November while at Windycon and stitch into a coherent videocast. I like the effect, I think I may do a few of these a month or so if people seem to like them (the audio levels aren’t perfect, I’m still playing with that) and they get passed around.
The hard part is keeping the camera with me and going. The battery life isn’t so hot, it’s a dinky little Samsung.

Also complicating that is fact that Thalia needs to be home tommorow since she has a cold: cough, runny nose, mild fever. 5 hrs ago
I fell asleep at 7:30pm and woke up at 12:30 due to coughing kid. Awake now. Will be interesting to see when I get tired. 5 hrs ago
Of course, I'm risking cliche. But these are the travails of being an entertainer: in realism vs keep story moving, moving wins 5 hrs ago
Mmm. The extended rise to leader of army plot sequence in this novella will be cut in favor of Duel To Death! Other way is long/boring. :) 5 hrs ago
Thalia's home today sick. Poor kid. Poor Toby's deadline LOL. 17 hrs ago

Very cool!
Lemme know if you’re ever in the Baltimore/DC area. I know where the books are at.
Have you thought about Balticon this spring?

Excellent work Tobias!
I am passing it along.

I highly recommend you pick up a cheap tripod.

You know, I’m not normally one for video, uh, casts (what’s the proper term?). However, I did enjoy and did watch this. My only comment would be that in a couple cuts the music was a little overpowering (the drum-and-bass in the sped-up part wandering about the con in the beginning for example). I’d watch it again, certainly.

Wow, very cool.
I like the handheld look, gives it that rough edge feel.

Thanks. re: tripods, I do have one. It’s awkward to carry around and it’s tough to stage shots out in the wild. But I’m also checking into a camera steadycam rig that’s affordable that should help.

Great work!! That was fun to watch. Just curious what software did you use for editing?

Man, I had no idea my hair had gotten that thin!
That was fun! I have no sound here at work, but it makes for an interesting silent film! I kept waiting for Mike to emerge from the revolving Borders door as Superman…
