Scrivener goes 1.0
I’m a huge fan of the OS-X writing software Scrivener, and I can’t say enough good things about it. Fortunately I don’t have to repeat them, you can see some early thoughts here.
Merlinn Mann of 43 Folders has much the same impression as I do.
I’ve been waiting 5 years for this exact feature set and functionality to arrive.

Also complicating that is fact that Thalia needs to be home tommorow since she has a cold: cough, runny nose, mild fever. 3 mins ago
I fell asleep at 7:30pm and woke up at 12:30 due to coughing kid. Awake now. Will be interesting to see when I get tired. 4 mins ago
Of course, I'm risking cliche. But these are the travails of being an entertainer: in realism vs keep story moving, moving wins 7 mins ago
Mmm. The extended rise to leader of army plot sequence in this novella will be cut in favor of Duel To Death! Other way is long/boring. :) 8 mins ago
Thalia's home today sick. Poor kid. Poor Toby's deadline LOL. 11 hrs ago

Oh! Oh wow! Ohmigosh, ohmigosh, that’s exactly what I need!
Heartbreak.
I don’t have a Mac. *whimper* Is there anything … anything out there like it for Windows, that you or your commenters have heard of???

Dunno, there is yWriter written by Simon Haynes.

It’s really Windowsy for me, in terms of GUI, but it does some of the same stuff. I just don’t see the same small-software innovation on the PC side as the mac side, so I’m not sure if there is anything that matches the feature set.

Microsoft has OneNote (http://www.microsoft.com/onenote) which is a decent program, if not the same thing as Scrivener. OneNote is a generic note gathering program mostly with businesses in mind. It excels at letting the user organize disparate pieces of data (text, audio, video, web links, etc.) in any way they want. It can be used to keep a writer’s notes, but it isn’t specifically tuned for writers.
