National Delurking Week
January 12th 2007 at 1:52 pm
John Scalzi just pointed out that it is national delurking week. Since I’m paying out $149 to a charity for failing to meet my minimum word count this week I can’t offer to pay 5 cents for every delurker to charity like he is, but if you haven’t posted at the site before, consider it for these reasons:
1) You could vote for your favorite charity to get $149 in the previous post.
2) Once you’ve gone through and been approved for a comment your comment won’t be waiting for me to moderate it, you’ll be approved to chat here at tobiasbuckell.com from then on.
3) You could meet new people
4) Say hello to friends
5) Say hello to me, I like meeting new people
6) The power of this blog compells you to delurk (Exorcist reference there, heh).
Even if you don’t, it’s nice having you out there.

hola
One of my New Year’s resolutions is to delurk (since I too have many lurkers) but we’ll see how well I keep that since I just got a new job that doesn’t keep me tethered to the web all day

I can’t recall if I’ve posted here before, but I do read your blog and I also dislike lurkers (or prefer that they not lurk), so here’s a comment.
I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read of your short fiction, and you were the SHU mentor of a friend of mine from Odyssey last year, so through her I’ve taken an interest in your work too. =) Kind of a funny story, I was in Mysterious Galaxy, the sf/fantasy/mystery/horror bookstore in San Diego, and the proprietors made a comment about David Brin, who lives in the area. By weird coincidence my nonfiction agent is his nonfiction agent, so I told them that, and later we were talking about recent releases and they asked if I’d read your CRYSTAL RAIN, which they thought was fantastic. I said no, but that you were my friend’s college mentor, so I wanted to read it, and there was much amazement at my supposed “connections”, which to me only speciously exist…
But you have many fans in San Diego, it seems!

Been lurking for a while. I’m writing my own fantasy novel and quite enjoy reading blogs from other fantasy/scifi writers. And lurking on those blogs is an excuse not to be writing.
Thanks for sharing your own goals and blogging regularly. I know I don’t like lurkers… I’ll be less of a hypocrite and comment more often.

I’m not really a lurker, but I thought it was worth a comment. I love having readers whether they comment or not, but, of course, I love the comments and the interaction with the community that surrounds our blogs.

Yay delurkers. Thanks for introducing yourselves, I hope you’ll consider sticking around and joining the conversation (and Ray, yeah, you’re not a lurker, but thanks for joining in!)
