Journal Entry
I just sold 3 books!
Tor has agreed to purchase the novel I just started, Sly Mongoose, as well as the next two novels that I write.
The proposal that was keeping me busy for almost three weeks was more complicated than usual because it wasn’t just a proposal for a single book that I had just started, but because I was coming up with synopsis for two whole extra novels on top of that.
I found out yesterday from my agent the offer had been made, and there were some details to get cleared before it all came fully together today.
What was cool about that was that yesterday was almost exactly three years since I got an offer for Crystal Rain, and five years since acquiring an agent. The holidays seem to like me (Ragamuffin sold in January of 2005, so I’ll count it as a winter deal as well)
All three books are more puzzle pieces in the rough universe of Crystal Rain and Ragamuffin.
The working titles are Sly Mongoose, Duppy Conqueror, and Desolation Gap and I’m pretty psyched about the ideas, characters, and settings I’ve sketched out.
Much celebration is ensuing.

Also complicating that is fact that Thalia needs to be home tommorow since she has a cold: cough, runny nose, mild fever. 5 hrs ago
I fell asleep at 7:30pm and woke up at 12:30 due to coughing kid. Awake now. Will be interesting to see when I get tired. 5 hrs ago
Of course, I'm risking cliche. But these are the travails of being an entertainer: in realism vs keep story moving, moving wins 5 hrs ago
Mmm. The extended rise to leader of army plot sequence in this novella will be cut in favor of Duel To Death! Other way is long/boring. :) 5 hrs ago
Thalia's home today sick. Poor kid. Poor Toby's deadline LOL. 17 hrs ago
