Printer
November 30th 2006 at 2:00 pm
Just got my printer hooked up again. I’d been having DSL failures last month, so a few weeks ago I changed the house over to cable internet. No down-time in my ability to get online so far. But I had to move the wireless station away from the printer where it had served up print jobs for me.
Now I have the printer in the living room running off a spare computer I use to manage bills. Just printed out a draft of a proposal so I could sit with a pen and go over it. There’s something about sitting down with the actual printed words that helps me look at them slightly differently. Nothing mystical, right, I’m a child of the computer era, but it’s just getting something familiar into a different context so that my brain can look at it differently that often makes the difference to me.
I also have to print out some stuff I have on my hard drive that needs mailed that’s been waiting all these weeks.

I’m one of those people who regularly has to print stuff out and mark it up in order to rewrite.
Wouldn’t it have been easier to invest in infrared/wireless for your printer? (And I say that with full knowledge that it would take me hours to get it to work if I tried it).
Best,
Mark Terry

It’s easy enough to plug it into one of the many computers around the house and just click on ’share printer’ to print to it from any other computer. I could get a wireless card, but that would cost money, this is free.

For edits I always find things in the hard copy that I never see online. Even for the design work I like to see a hard copy.
