My Story ‘Her’ read at Escape Pod
August 31st 2006 at 6:33 pm
My magical-realist far future SF short story ‘Her’ is podcast up at Escape Pod. It’s rated ‘R’ by them. Because it “contains explicit anatomical imagery. On a very large scale.”
Listen and you’ll get it.
Ragamuffin cover art
August 30th 2006 at 10:56 am
Irene Gallo has posted an interview with Todd Lockwood (the talented man who did Crystal Rain’s cover art) and the progression from thumbnail sketch all the way to final cover for Ragamuffin. You certainly want to check this out.
I’m being so spoiled by Tor in regards to cover art. I’m a real lucky guy.
Heading Home
August 29th 2006 at 9:12 am
I’m sitting at John Wayne INT here in Orange County waiting to board. I spent yesterday sleeping all day in the hotel room while fighting off a cold of some sort.
Since I have no memory I have fun exercise. If you are interested, write one way you ran into or hung out with me that […]
Huh, NY Times Mention
August 25th 2006 at 10:21 am
New York Times gives out a guide to Audiobook Projects supplement to an article about audiobooks populating online, and in probably the only way I’ll ever see my genre-iffic name in that hallowed publication, talks about my Joe Blow Neopro column as read by Alex Wilson:
THE SPOKEN ALEXANDRIA PROJECT Founded in 2004. Mission statement: “To […]

In the last 5 hours my domain name tobiasbuckell.com has been used in the reply-to area of a spammer’s outgoing email and I have over 5,000 emails so far in my inbox that are bounces/spam bounces/failed sent message notices.
I love the future.
If you sent an email before 12 noon Pacific Standard Time I read it. […]
Pacific Standard Toby

I stayed up ‘late’ until 2am, got up at 8:30am, and this feels great.
It’s like I was designed to live in California or something. And it’s neat to feel like normal people do who seem to naturally get up in the morning!
Dayton
August 23rd 2006 at 3:00 pm
I’m sitting here at the Dayton airport. I have about half an hour or so before the flight boards for Orange Country, CA and the worldcon madness begins. Details of what panels I’ll be on and so forth should be in the left hand bar under ‘appearances’ if you are interested. Click on the item […]
Farecast
August 22nd 2006 at 8:51 am
I’ve been playing around with the beta of Farecast, a web 2.0 site that lets you predict when fares will jump in price so that you have a fighting chance (it would have been nice to check with when I checked a price for airfare to LA a couple months ago, then went to bed […]
Tea Parties in Real Life
August 21st 2006 at 2:28 pm
Hugh Staples writes:
You probably don’t know me, but I’ve met you at a few SF Cons, most recently, I think, at Marcon in Columbus. Some months ago, I downloaded an audio file from your site of a PenguinCon panel you guys did on “Tea Parties in Science Fiction”. Seems you guys were prophetic. Take a […]
Colourful Stories
August 21st 2006 at 1:09 pm
Nisi Shawl writes about fantastic fiction by diasporic authors for Vector, the journal of the British SF Association. In addition to giving a great bibliography of such work at the end, she also writes a quick squib on Crystal Rain:
Tobias Buckell, who appeared in all three of these anthologies, has just released his first novel, […]
