Marcon Report
May 29th 2006 at 11:03 pm
While I wasn’t hanging with all the cool kids at Wiscon, I did drive down to Columbus to speak on a few panels and have dinner with Charlie Finlay.
Saturday Emily and I drove down and I spoke on the books that drew me into the field, as well as the books that recently geeked me out and moderated the panel. Richard Gombert wrote up the results of the panel here.
On Sunday I drove back down to speak about breaking into the field and… what new writers needed to know. On the last both David Hartwell and I felt a bit like we were repeating each other, so we probably weren’t at our liveliest.
One highlight of the con was running into Steve Buchheit and Geoff Girard who’ve I’ve chatted with a bit online.
Since then I’ve just been bumming about the house, blogging, doing prep work for book three, Sly Mongoose. Trying to consolidate all these fricking notes I have lying around. Trying to finish up some other stuff I owe various people…

Jeez, a mention on the blog, I’m honored (typing ceased while geek victory dance commenced)
It was a blast talking with you and Geoff. That was the highlight of the con for me. Close second was talking about writers’ workshops with you and David Hartwell before the last panel. Now I’ve just got to get my (insert colloquialism for rear-end here) in gear, Viable Paradise closes June 15.

Easy Wyman, I’ve just corresponded with those two authors a bunch more and therefore highlighted them. It wasn’t a comprehensive report, just a quick summary.

That’s okay, I was just being silly. A trait that has gotten me into trouble more than once. And yet I persist.
