Interesting Market

March 29th 2006 at 3:21 pm

Have your fiction read aloud at a spa:

We are seeking short stories from 2.500 to 3,000 words that beg to be read aloud to upscale hotel and spa guests. The objective is to help them relax. We do not feel violence, horror or gratuitous sex achieve that end.

You supply the words, we supply the perfect compliment in a single voice.

Writers are paid $250.00 for each selected submission and we retain 1st North American serial and audio rights.

Nice pay.

I’m just not seeing anything around that I write aimed to relax people.

Yeah, I had the same dilemma.

I took trunk of stories into the shower with me, and let the bathroom fill up with steam. None of the stories begged to be let outside, so I guess I will send them all to the market for a nice upscale spa vacation. Seriously, that’s a tough guideline, since most good stories strive to creat tension in some form or another.

Reminds me how factories would hire readers for their workers. They would read books, newspapers, magazines, whatever while others sweated. I think the last industry that did this were the cigar makers. I’m thinng it was the subject of an off-broadway play a few years back.

Strange mix that it’s now for the hoy paloy.
