Oh Caffeine

This is the end of my third caffeine-free day. I usually quit every summer, or over winter break, but last weekend I was struggling with the reaction I have to drinking soda, and particularly caffeinated soda (I have very bad acid reflux).

Then there is usually some crisis that leads me back to it.

But sometimes it takes a few tries to shake a bad habit. I’ve found that for long drives, instead of caffeine, taking a 20 minute nap completely revives me, and it was usually road trips that made me relapse to caffeine.

My working theory was that it would help me sleep better as well. I wondered if the caffeine was affected the quality of my sleep. I’m still not tired here at midnight, however.

At least I’m over the worst of the shakes and twitching and my really grumpy moods. That’s been the highlight of the last two days.

On another tangent - I spent a chunk of tonight cleaning out the basement office. I created a new table that is behind me about 10 feet to hold everything related to bill paying. It even has it’s own little chair.

Out of sight out of mind, which is good, because when I come down to write and bills are scattered all over my desk it makes it hard to focus. I decided to move everything not writing related away from my desk.

That area needs cleaned up, but I’ll do that during my bill paying/financial session tomorrow night. To be honest, it feels like a weight lifted from my shoulders…
