Japan No Longer Pacifist

Japan removes the ‘defense only’ clause of their constitution, as well as rewrote a part that allows political leaders to attend war shrines.

It sounds like it’s formalising the existing situation. Japan sent troops to Iraq, which is stretching any notion of self-defense beyond breaking point. And the PM already visits a war shrine every year.
Looking at the wider perspective it’ll make it easier to justify withdrawing the US troops from the Okinawa bases.

I’ll be interested in seeing the world gov’t reaction–especially the US, as we wrote their current constitution. I’m sure it has *nothing* to do with Kim Jong-Il having nukes…
