My laptop hard drive died last night. I had enough warning to get a latest snapshot of all the important stuff, so no drama, but I am frustrated. The drive died in August, now again in December? Both were Toshiba drives, so when I go in to get this replaced (under warranty), I want an IBM travelstar.

I’ve never had this much trouble with apple stuff, it’s frustrating and an anomaly. I know, the Toshiba hard drive isn’t ‘apple stuff’ but it is part of the package. I don’t know what reputation the Toshiba drives have, but the IBM travelstar seems to be well regarded. The original 1999 ibook we have is with my sister right now in England and humming along merrily, as is our old iMac.

But anyhow, I probably won’t be around much in the upcoming days as I get this fixed and disappear for the holidays. I’ll be back for sure on January 1st!
