Dustcover, Gas,
June 28th 2004 at 1:55 pm
Over at John Scalzi’s weblog John has posted a picture of his dustcover.
Seeing another author going through those stages has been exciting. I wonder what I’ll have to blog or post when that time comes around?
Who knows.
In the meantime, I’m here at home still settling in. Dial up, as I’ve said before, sucks. I spent the weekend doing domestic things. Mainly sanding and painting a pair of bookshelves in a semi-gloss black for one of the rooms. That’s all I remember. I know I did other things as well…
One of our first introductions to home ownership was the gas people finding a leak in our pipe a week and a half ago. They shut the gas off, so we haven’t had a stove in a week or so. The first fix was done by a local company, which then found we had to have another company come in and dig up part of the yard to fix an underground leak. The bill is quite humbling.
Balancing the bad gas kharma (he he), however, is a note from a british publishing group that wants to reprint my story ‘Tides’ in a book, and what they’re offering, thanks to the wonderful exchange rate, is about what the cost of the gas repair is. It would have been nicer to have it to spend, but I’m glad it’s coming in anyway.
And life goes on…

Toby,
Congrats on the story reprint sale!!
But you know, that title, “Dustcover, Gas,” made me think this was gonna be an astronomy entry, maybe about the surface of Mars? HAHAHA!!!

Glad you’re getting the gas leak taken care of. And how considerate of the universe to make sure the expense of it is covered. Such service.
