Jesus Action Figure

May 29th 2004 at 9:32 am

Make of this whatever you will, but there are those of you who will find this as bizarre, and if you’re like my friend who forwarded this link and me (thanks Burt!), so absurdly funny you’ll hurt.

Behold, the Jesus Action Figure

This came up because he showed me the episode of South Park last night where Cartman forms a christian band.

    That’s frickin’ brilliant.

I saw some of these, I’m not sure if it was the exact same one, at Archie McPhee’s in Seattle–a novelty store. They had Jesus. They also had a Pope Innocent (?) action figure (he’s the one blamed for the Albigensian Crusade and the massacre of 20,000 christians in France. They had a lot of really funny action figures, many of them quite irreverant, but I can’t remember. I enjoyed most the list of powers on the box, like “walks on water.”

Emily was asking me where the idea where this came from, and I think I’ve seen serious biblical action figures in christian catalogues, so it’s not that far of a stretch. It’s just the presentation that had me laughing.
