DSL is down/not working for some reason, I’m dialing in for a quick note that I’m back from Marcon safe and sound, had a good time there, and that we do have a winner for last week’s newsletter prize, so check your email if you signed up for that.
Jesus Action Figure
May 29th 2004 at 9:32 am
Make of this whatever you will, but there are those of you who will find this as bizarre, and if you’re like my friend who forwarded this link and me (thanks Burt!), so absurdly funny you’ll hurt.
Behold, the Jesus Action Figure…
This came up because he showed me the episode of South Park last night where […]
New Pro-paying Ezine
May 28th 2004 at 1:35 pm
E. Bear posts a link to a new e. market called Lenox Avenue that pays 5 cents a word up to $100 (2,000 words, right?).
The first issue, to be coming out in July, features stories by Nisi Shawl, livejournal troublemaker Nick Mamatas, the aforementioned Elizabeth Bear, and what looks like (as in I don’t think […]

So yeah, I’m noticing the comments spam and have been wacking at it. I’m looking into solutions.
This is so annoying. Advertising through spam is like trying to sell a thirsty man water by drowning the entire world.
Just Your Average 15 Hour Workday
May 26th 2004 at 11:11 pm
Today I started with one schedule conflict SNAFU, drove to Detroit with the dept. head discussing work projects, had lunch about that stuff, drove back, answered work email and updated some other stuff, then went on to support a conference here on campus until 11pm, just now.
Gotta love 15 hour work days.

I’ve been fiddling around with my 8th Joe Blow Neopro column now for 2 months. It’s called ‘The Brand Called You’ and I’ve started it several times, trashed it, gathered notes, read a ton, and tried to bring it together. I’m about 3 or 400 words away from finishing it now…
…with 8 or 9 days […]

On Arsenal Pulp Press’s website it says, “So Long Been Dreaming: Postcolonial Science Fiction; Fantasy is an anthology of original new stories by leading African, Asian, South Asian, and Aboriginal authors, as […]

Prizes and Such
May 25th 2004 at 9:06 am
There will be a prize this week for some lucky winner who signs up for my newsletter, I haven’t decided. I will announce later today, after I get off work at noon.
Also, no one won last week’s prize, the free copy of Analog, as no one signed up. Very sad. I take it my reader’s […]
