Chapter 2

April 30th 2004 at 1:25 am

…as I suspected and somewhat hoped when I sprung this theoretical approach on my critiquers, chapter 2 would apparently work better if I had my starship become a giant living rock boosting spider.

To understand the above sentence takes about 4-6 thousand words.

Not at all. I understand it perfectly. By the way, ask Melko about the “Moon Faries Of The Sunken Archipelego.”

  2. 2. Vera Nazarian

The scary thing is, I also understood that perfectly. :-)

I can see it as well. A spider that doesn’t breath oxygen, check. Armored/shielded so it isn’t harmed by solar radiation, check. Spinning threads that catch the solar wind, acting both as sail and energy conductor for nourishment via some type of chemical photosynthesis, check.
    :-)

What’s to understand? Hey, if we can use trees as starships (see: Baxter, Niven, Simmons), then a giant spider will work for me just fine. Nice change of pace as well.

see, this is why I mostly write fantasy.

Heh :-) Glad you all are onboard.

Nalo: Yeah, but I’m having so much -fun- :-)

    I second Nalo’s fantasy preference :D
Spiders in space sound neat, though. The name “Anansi” comes up in my mind, though…
