Journal Entry

new office

November 30th 2003 at 11:26 pm

The new office photo journal.

I mentioned that we swapped the office and bedroom locations. The office worked out real well in the new location. I’ve got a corner to myself and so does Em. The picture below shows my area, and Em’s iMac kinda horns in a bit on the left there.

I wanted a display area for my books and some other stuff, so at Home Depot I selected a fetching five foot long piece of oak and some light cherry stain, as well as some dark green ornamental brackets at Lowes. I then laid it out over some garbage bags in the kitchen and applied the stain, and the result came out very close to the wood colors in the office area, and it looks very good.

The bedroom is turning out very nice as well, we got these neat roman style fabric shades that are tres cool. Much other home improvement type stuff was done, at a dent to the old pocket book, but it was kinda fun. Emily said I was particularly driven.

In addition to the shelf and swap, I hung a corkboard and rearranged a picture on Emily’s office side. I got the DSL modem and airport working exactly the way I want them too…
(long story, you could get onto the DSL modem with a direct ethernet cable to get online, but when you plugged in the airport no go. I previously plugged the DSL straight into the iMac, then internet shared the connection wirelessly from the airport through the iMac, which wasn’t too hard, but if Emily ever rebooted the iMac when she was fiddling around with it, I’d go offline.)
…and there was more. It was kinda fun. We got a power drill, accesories, a level, and I was entirely having fun. I love this kinda stuff.

It was a nice 5 day weekend.

Yeah, I got some writing in as well ;-)

Dude, that looks sweet. Nice job and congrats, even if you didn’t buy all the parts at Home Depot. ;)
