More Amazon Search Stuff

I have the most creative headers for these don’t I?
Anyway, Amazon.com sales jumped 9% on searchable books. I wonder if that is temporary as people play with it, or is it an actual feature that improves people’s ability to find and buy what they want?
I know the BNA (big name authors) in SF tend to get very nervous about this kind of thing, but what with Baen’s free library, Cory Doctorow’s book, I wonder if this isn’t a necesary step to increasing readership?
I don’t know yet, I just don’t know.
