I keep meaning to post

February 26th 2003 at 11:33 pm

I keep meaning to post this link as being my favorite article about Clarion… so here is Catherine’s really good article about Clarion.
Yep, that’s all you get today, a link out of my ‘best of’ bookmarks file.
Why?
I have nothing profound to say and I’m extremely busy, the lack of sleep is catching up, and I’m […]

Honda Civic. 149,000, 5 speed

February 26th 2003 at 12:15 am

Honda Civic. 149,000, 5 speed manual, horrible stereo system, good body.
For the first time in my life I own a car with four doors. Maybe now I will have friends who will want to sit in the back and go places with me…
or maybe not.
Car pros: great gas mileage (34mpg or so), 4 doors for […]

In the last 30 days

February 25th 2003 at 5:52 am

In the last 30 days Apple’s default mail program, mail.app, has intercepted 147 pieces of spam correctly, and about 5 snuck through into my regular mail.
Not shabby.
What is also not shabby is that the wonderful David Levine just forwarded me cover pictures of the Land/Space antho. I’ll post them in the morning. Just spent 45 […]

Tangent reviews Ideomancer Unbound and has this to say about my story Tides:
On a water world ruled by the tides caused by its multiple moons and suns a war rages between islanders and stilt-villagers. Miasia, a magic user whose life force is almost spent, returns home to her village from the war. She and her […]

Do I take anything seriously?

February 25th 2003 at 1:01 am

Do I take anything seriously? Nick has this cool entry about amorphous blobs. I think I would have paid more attention to it, but he had this little gif loop of the rather infamous Leonard Nimoy Bilbo Baggins music video and I kept scrolling back to look at it and remember the awful singing and […]

After a sentence by sentence

February 24th 2003 at 6:41 pm

After a sentence by sentence overhaul and an ending change, I handed in that story that got requested of me at the beginning of last week. So I’m happy to announce that I sold ‘Anakoinosis’ to I, Alien, edited by Mike Resnick.
I also find out probably tomorrow whether the other insurance company will pay. They […]

Okay, finished the first draft

February 23rd 2003 at 7:33 pm

Okay, finished the first draft of this story last night, printed a copy for Em, and she marked it up. She also circled a chunk of the ending and pointed out that it was really confusing.
The ice is supposedly real bad (last night’s trip out to the store was slippery). The trees outside are very […]

A rejection in the mail

February 21st 2003 at 5:01 pm

A rejection in the mail today from Marsdust, with a very long and thoughtful critique by the editor that I’ll redact into a rewrite outline and tag that to the story. I’ve gotten a few other critiques along the same on the story. The Marsdust one really fingered something I hadn’t noticed that would make […]
