The first review of the July/August issue of Analog is out. Bluejack reviewed my story ‘A Green Thumb’ more or less favorably, calling it an “amusing fantasy” and “skillfully executed.”

86,500 Words, Almost Done!

June 24th 2002 at 3:00 pm

What is it they say? It is not the goal, rather, it is the journey to the goal that counts? I came very close to finishing Crystal Rain by this weekend. Just a couple thousand words close. The novel is 86,500 words long now, I wrote almost 13,000 words in 5 days. Not incredible, I […]

The great rush towards the end is in progress. Day 3 of my 4 days vacation to write the novel. On Tuesday I got started late (slept in, tuckered Toby) and then spent a couple hours cleaning my office and organizing my desk (’my procrastination stage, Em called it). But the desk was filled with […]

Heh, well, this is a super-nice way to start off a week of writing on my novel, but I have more stuff to report and self promote. The first is a piece that I’ve been sitting on for a while, but saw that it is okay to talk about as forthcoming. My story ‘Nord’s Gambit’ […]

Apple posted the 10.1.5 update, which made my day. The iBook (original design, 300mhz) and the Lombard (my working laptop, 400mhz) are old enough that OS-X did all the video processing off the main processing chip and not their ATI video cards. Meaning that the heavy eye-candy that is OS-X slowed it down (semi-transparent […]

I got a few emails and comments on the last posting. Thanks all. I’d also like to point out that I’m an empirical agnostic (i.e, I can’t rule out the idea that a god exists anymore than I can disprove the existence of Zeus, the Invisible Pink Unicorn, or Ahura Mazda, so it’s a non-issue […]
