In doing my usual foray
May 30th 2002 at 11:28 pm
In doing my usual foray into the web without any particular destination in mind a few weeks ago I came across an article and piece of polemic by Orson Scott Card that just threw me for a loop. Orson Scott Card doesn’t like atheism, or books that opine something contrary to his beliefs, or the […]

I opened the email this morning to get a rejection from Realms of Fantasy, in the form of a reply to a query. They now track their submissions. Snappy response too. And I was also very pleasantly surprised to find a request for submissions in my box from a formerly closed market to me.
Life in […]

I set up a little teaser for my Analog story here where you can see the cover and get a snippet etc.
And in other news I’m starting another short story, hoping to nudge into another anthology with a looming deadline. I’m a sucker for pain, I know. But the novel will take the prime focus, […]

Well I finished my rewrite, it’s off at the editor now. The other story I needed to write is done. I have everything off the table except for finishing my novel. That is the focus once more.
Been over a month since I’ve worked on it. *sigh* It was supposed to have been done by now.
Ah […]

Terrorism from a Star Wars

Terrorism from a Star Wars perspective:
At first this Slashdot commentary is funny. But then you get to start thinking. The plot of Dune involves desert terrorists fighting a great big power. What other great SF novels involve that sort of theme? Did we ever consider the citizens of the Empire in our rooting for the […]

I lost 400 words yesterday. What is that in the big scheme of things? Not much. 1 1/2 hours worth of work (400 rewritten words, I’m slow on rewrites). 1/10 of the story I’m working on right now. It happened because I ’side-graded’ my laptop, moving from an iBook to an old powerbook, and the […]
So after all that culture
May 13th 2002 at 9:45 pm
So after all that culture jamming linkage I starting thinking about it more, and clicking out into the web more. Have you seen those anti-smoking ads? Some of them are done in the culture jamming spirit (the latest one I remember is a group of kids tagging hotel doorknobs with placards saying something like ‘every […]
