And Jon Hansen is the winner of the ‘over 15,000′ counter contest, one that I accidentally created when I posted on the 26th in a haze of typical confusion and wrote ‘email if you have over 15,000 on the counter.’ Well, I can’t send everyone a prize who gets over 15,000 on the counter, but [...]

Yay for Mike Jasper, he won the 15,000 visitor award. I think I’ll give him a copy of whispers from the cotton tree root.
As for me, got up early today to get into work (we’re closing early today). Took care of a few items, still going. Wrote like 1600 words last night. Fun.
More later, after [...]

March 26th 2002 at 6:58 pm

So I have the amount of RAM that makes me happy. The techs got it right. I now need my wireless PC card (Lucent Orinoco Silver, $74), but that has to wait until this weekend when I get my paycheck. That about catches me up (well, an SVGA-RCA adaptor so I can watch DVDs on [...]

Ach, they screwed up. They sent me 256megs PC133 Ram, when my powerbook uses PC100 ram. I can see how, they looked down and saw Powerbook 400mhz and grabbed the ram for that, which is the same way I ended up getting this Lombard instead of the Pismo, but what the hell.
Anyway, I can use/see [...]

(This was accidentally posted into the wrong area last night. Oops. Here goes.)
My first official day moved over to the powerbook was a good one. I got everything transferred over that I needed from the iBook. I took my crossover cable and set up AppleTalk and File Share, connected with a couple clicks, and [...]

The Lombard arrived (it is a Lombard, not a Pismo). I’m going to order the extra RAM tonight to bump it up to $320. The only other thing I need to worry about is hunting down a wireless PC Card so I can continue using airport (internet without wires, please) at home.
The larger screen is [...]

I started a journal entry

March 20th 2002 at 5:42 pm

I started a journal entry yesterday, but it mostly covered how tired I was. I regrouped with a pepsi and had a good writing session on my break, and ended up with 1500 words in about 75 minutes (went over my break a little, by 15 minutes, but I covered that by leaving 15 minutes [...]

March 18th 2002 at 2:09 am

46,300 words. Got rolling on chapter 34, the start of a fun series of chapters where we get to see a dead god, the muffin posse, a tortured god, and some crazy running around in the sewers of an ancient city, a wooden submarine, and some other oddities I’ve been looking forward to bringing on [...]

In the spirit of moving

March 14th 2002 at 3:05 am

In the spirit of moving upward I went and purchased a used Powerbook. A G3-400 Lombard. It should arrive before the weekend. It should be about 30% faster than my iBook and will take up to 512megs ram. But more importantly, it has a higher resolution.
800*600 on this now 3 year old iBook is [...]
