I’m still forging ahead on

February 25th 2002 at 7:09 pm

I’m still forging ahead on the novel. For some reason I was tuckered out this weekend. I visited my grandfather who has come up to the US for a month or so, and is staying with my parents. I kept going to be early by my standards, around midnight, and sleeping until lunch. So I didn’t get any writing done over the weekend. The novel is at the rough halfway point, 36K +, and I want to hit 40K ASAP, but I was just weary.

Some good news this morning. As many might notice, Fictionwise is starting to run my reprints. I’m also tracking how well they are selling on Fictionwise and trying to figure out how my stories are doing in comparison to other stories. So I was very happy to see my story ‘Fish Merchant’ ranked #24 in the SF area out of 370+ stories. Of course, that might be because it was launched last week and had a discount on it, so I may just slide right away again into oblivion, but it was nice to see it move up there over the week and sit on that first page of the 25 bestselling stories at fictionwise over the last 2 weeks. Yay.

My WOTF story, ‘In Orbite Medievali’ is up there as well, and was just launched today, so I’ll be keeping tabs on that one too.

And another piece of good news is that Tides, the story that Dark Regions died with, has been sold already. It was neat, but an editor who reads my journal read about the incident and asked for the story for a project. After some discussion about what that project was, so I knew fully what was going on, I decided I liked it, agreed, sent it to them, and they read it and liked it and bought it.

But I can’t name the project for five more days.

I’m a shit, I know. But I had to get the news off my chest because it was awesome to just not have to start all over again with Tides.
