2 rejections today; one from

2 rejections today; one from Asimov’s (138 days) on a collaborative piece, and another from Leviathan (21 days). This week’s CD is Waterbourne, a sort of Eastern Himalayan sounding group with Westernized overlays (the techno sort of dancehall beat in some cases). There’s a scene in the movie High Fidelity where one of the characters working in a music store turns to another and says “I will now sell 6 copies of *name of band here*” Well, when Emily and I were in Toledo two weekends ago, we walked into the Discovery store. All the usual generic new age stuff played in the background, and some new Enya. Then this track came on that just rocked. I mean, several people in the store just kinda stopped and looked up at the speakers. So I walked over to the cash register and asked a stores salesperson what it was. She looked up and laughed, and said that everyone who had heard that track today had asked her that, and they’d sold just about every copy. But one. After some rummaging about we found the copy, and I began to debate whether I could buy it. I also found a copy of the Bond CD, a group of ladies who do some great stringed instruments. Emily was wonderful enough to help me out of my ‘I can’t afford to buy CDs’ dilemna by buying the Bond CD for me.It’s a good CD. Try it out sometime.
