Journal Entry
Nothing in the mail today.

Nothing in the mail today. Last night I sat down and wrote 1200 words. Got some shopping done as well. I like this Blogger system, but it doesn’t do what I want, so I’m going to plunk down the money for webhosting that gives me more CGI control and PHP (my fave scripting language), and maybe even mysql so I can make the site a database backed site. I have some neat ideas, some stuff I need to do.
For one, I have tons and tons of bookmarks and neat URLs that I should probably share with people in addition to my boring entries
The other reason I would like to make my site database backed is because I’ve been playing around with my story submission database, and think I would like to make it web-based so that I can access it on any variety of computers I use.
I’m house sitting in Bluffton alone now. Just me, someone else’s house, and their dog. It looks like animal from the Muppets, some sort of Peke-Poodle mix. A homely looking mini-beast that thinks I’m God since I took out on a car ride last night and popped through the Burger King drivethrough for chicken nuggets. The downside is that the dog is used to a walk at 5:30am, and I usually finish my writing/web-mastering at 3-4am.
I am in luck, though, as I think the mini-beast is catching on to how I work. As I sit out in the dining area until the wee hours of the morning, she sits and watches me with her head cocked (what the hell is going on? shouldn’t you be in bed by now? is that cheese you’re eating, and if so, can I please please please have some?) Since Emily left to go teach (she’s in our apartment, I’m house sitting), I’ve ’slept in’ until 9:30 ish twice now, and have not received any unpleasant presents. I hope this keeps up.
Truth be told, I’m actually enjoying having the pet. I bought some truly nasty Chef Boyardee Chicken Alfredo. I gave most of it to her. I don’t feel guilty about throwing it away. I’m also getting exercised, and it is more fun to run with something trying to outrun you. For a wee sized animal the dog can book, and we’ll both sprint a nice 1/5 mile back to the house twice a day (at lunch, at dinner), and I have to begrudglingly admit it is good for my health to be running, albeit not very far. But hey, all you need is a 20 minute session to alter your body metabolism towards burn baby burn.
Last night I bough a pound of grapes, and it is 10:30 tonight and they’re almost all gone. I will replicate this with strawberries tomorrow. Fruit good. Like eat. Hmmm. (And now there are those who are now convinced I can’t write thanks to that last segment
I’m out.
